YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES At the afternoon call yesterday sales were reported of 4) per cent. Government bonds at £99 55., National Bank of Australasia (£5 paid, two parcels), at £9 95., New Zealand Breweries at 495. 6d., Colonial Sugar at £63, and Mount Lyell Mining at 345. 9d. There was a fair demand for Government* bonds, with buyers of the 4i per cents, at £99, and the 51 per cents, at £lOl 2s. Cd. New Zealand Breweries bonds were wanted at 245. Bank shares were in poor demand, but prices remain firm. There were buyers of Australia Bank of Commerce at £33 10s., National Bank of Australasia, £lO paid, at. £lB 195., and £5 paid at £9 Bs. 6d. Sellers quoted £l5 Is. for Bank of Australasia. 31s. for Commercial Bank of Australia, £7 4s. for National Bank of New Zealand, and 61s. 9d. for Bank of New Zealand. There was a demand for National Mortgage at SOs. 6d. and for N.Z. Loan and Mercantile at £llO. N.Z. Guarantee and Corporation, preference, were wanted at 215., and New Zealand Investment at 9s. 6d. Gas shares were steady, with bids of 245. lid. for Christchurch Gas, 9s. 6d. for Gisborne Gas, and 17s. for Wellington Gas. preference. Gear Meat were firm at 40s. fid.
