NEWCASTLE MURDER

JACKSON SENTENCED TO DEATH Sydney, September 5. Charles Jackson, charged with the mu.der of Richard Moxey, near Newcastle, on June 15, was found guilty and sentenced to death. No evidence was called for the defence, but Jackson in a statement from the box asserted that Moxey had been guilty of abominable offences towards him, and that he (the accused) was Intoxicated on the day of the murder and had a hazy recollection of firing at Moxey.

At the conclusion of Jackson’s trial James Dent, who was charged with having incited to murder, was released from custody, following tlie application of the Crown prosecutor.
