LAKE FORMED BY LANDSLIDE
SETTLERS FEAR FLOOD By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, September 4. As the result of the slip in the le Vii Valiev a fortnight ago. when a hillside suddenly slid into the Rea> Stream, a lake has been lormed, and e- rs ire held that the impounde l may break away suddenly. Settlers lower down the valley are takii b precautions to remove stock, \\nen [lie slip occurred it was estimate accurately the loss of stock, but .it is now stated that the loss of one settler, Mr. L. Macintosh, to 200 sheep. Forty sheep and two horses were left alive on the top of the slip and are still there, as it h.is been found impossible to rescue them
