ROTARY IN SYDNEY

ADDRESS BY. MR. J. M. A. ILOTT. An interesting address on “Rotary in Sydney” was given by Mr. J. M. A. Hott, vice-president, at the cllington Rotary Club’s weekly luncheon yesterdaMr, Hott, who has recently returned from Australia, conveyed the hearty wishes of the Sydney club to members. There were some 20 clubs in the y om “ monwealth, he said, six in New South Wales, five in Victoria, one in South Australia, one in West Australia, four in Queensland, and three in . Tasmania. When the populations of New Zealand and Australia were compared, one could be proud of the growth of Rotary in the Dominion, where there were twentythree clubs. There were three clubs in Sydney, and a new club had been formed at Canberra. There was a very large membership in the big Sydney club, which prevented the members from keeping the same personal friendships as could be kept in a smaller one. The most satisfactory size was that of the Wellington club, where members got to know one another. , , . Mr. Hott, who said that the clubs in Sydney were doing great work in assisting the boys of the city, stated that a feature of Australian Rotary, which could be seriously considered in P |CW Zealand, was the holding of week-end conferences, which he personally thought a very good idea.
