MATCH WITH NEW SOUTH WALES FIRST TEST TO-MORROWJ Judging by the heavy booking which had already taken place, there should be a large crowd at Athletic Park tp-mor-row afternoon to witness the hrst lest match between New South Wales and New Zealand, which is timed to start at 3 o’clock. . The New Zealand team assembled in Wellington yesterday, and did some training during the afternoon. The New South Wales team arrived from Napier by train, yesterday afternoon. Given fine weather, the match should furnish an attractive display of the Rugby game, as both teams possess speedy backs, and both will make the game as open as possible. Mr. F. E. Sutherland, of Auckland, has been chosen as referee. The New South Wales team for the first Test match will be picked alter training operations this morning. His Excellency the Governor-General (Sir Charles Fergusson) and the Prime Minister (Kight Hon. J. G. Coates) have signified their intention of attending the game. , . , Amongst others who have already arrived to attend the game is the president of the New Zealand Rugby Union (Mr. G. A. Maddison), who is Mayor of HastnThc New South Wales team and the New Zealand team were the, guests of the Fuller proprietary at His Majesty s Theatre last evening. .WELLINGTON TEAM’S SOUTHERN TOUR The following team has been selected by Mr. J. N. Millard to represent Wellington on the Southern tour:— Backs. —Heazelwood (Athletic), Elliott (Poncke), Broderick (Marist), Pickering (Berhampore), Chancy (Johnsonville), Peterson (Petone), Mackenzie (University), Coman (Petone), Leys (University). , , ~ . Forwards. —Jessup (Poncke). Coulston (Petone), Shearer (Poncke), McPherson (Old Boys), Sly (Poncke), Graham (Oriental), Williams (Oriental), Claridge (Old Boys), Wilson (Poncke), and McLean (Wellington). Blacker, O’Began, Mackay, and Ramson (University), and Edgar (Athletic), were not available. Cuming (Marist), and Brown (University), were not included, owing to injuries. . The Wellington team leaves for the South Island next week, and will play the following matches: — September 12—v. South Canterbury, at Timaru. September 15—v. Otago, at Dunedin. September 19—v. Southland, at Invercargill. September 22— v. Canterbury, at Christchurch.
