INCREASING INTEREST. The coming cycling season promises to be the most successful so far experienced in New Zealand,' and amateur cyclists all over the Dominion are making preparations for the strenuous contests ahead. More and more young men are being attracted to the sport, and there is every indication that the entries for the many cycling events tins year wi constitute a record, with a corresponding improvement in the standard of competition. . . Wellington will have a number ol representatives in the 50-mile road race notween Palmerston and Wanganui, next Saturday. Among those who have enteied are Flett, Webber, ami Ganc. The New Zealand uO-mde championship cycle road race is to be held on he following Saturday, the course bein. from Wellington to Mungaroa and back. This event is being decided undei e auspices of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, with the Port Nicholson Club (.driving out the arrangements. The race is to start and finish in Jervois Quay, near the Central Fire Brigade btaUon. Entries close next Saturday vith Mr. 11. D. Loudon (the hon. secretary). Auckland will be represented by the present 50-mile champion, J. H. Made, and M. P. Byrnes. Among a number ot competitors from Canterbury will be F. Grose, who has beeu showing good form since recovering from the injuries sustained in a bad spill some time ago. Lukey, who represented New Zealand in the hist Colac to Melbourne race, will also be representing Canterbury.
