DUE AT AUCKLAND ON SUNDAY.

Auckland, September 3. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Napier, which put into Pago Pago on August 25 owing to an outbreak of fire on board, is expected to leave buva to-morrow in continuation of her voyage from London to New Zealand. She is due at Auckland on Sunday.. The vessel has a large quantity of general merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Dunedin, and the Bluff. For Auckland she has 4990 tons. The cargo is in five holds, of which Nos. 1,2, and $ are on the forepart of the bridge, and Nos.'4 and s.near the Stem. The fire occurred in the No. 4 shelter deck, and consequently only the cargo m No. 4 hold, and possibly the No. 5 shelter deck, will be affected. In addition to cargo for other ports, the No. 4 hold contained 1058 tons for Auckland, and the No. 5 hold 919 tons of cargo for Auckland. In the No. 4 hold, 163 tons was on the shelter deck near the seat of the fire, and included cases of earthenware, cases of matches, napthaline, cylinders of ammonia, kegs of sulphate of copper, cases of glass, bales of paper, sheep dip, motorcars, enamelware, and three cases of chemicals. ’Tweendecks, and the lower hold of No. 4- is filled with a miscellaneous assortment of general merchandise. It is understood no- constructional damage was done to the vessel. The amount of cargo damaged has not been stated, and will probably not be known until all the cargo in the afterholds has been discharged.
