TRAP-SHOOTING
HUTT VALLEY GUN CLUB The official opening of the Hutt Valley Gun Club’s season was held ou Saturday, a satisfactory attendance of members and guests being present. In formally declaring the season open the president, Dr. G. F. V. Anson, cordially welcomed the guests and members and hoped that the club would develop greatly during the season. He stated that besides enjoying the sport of trap shooting, they should also enjoy their afternoons socially. Three matches were shot off during the afternoon, after which the trophies were presented. Mrs. Anson entertained the members and guests at afternoon tea. ;The first match, which was one of Io birds, resulted in a win for J. Cave, who shot the possible, E. Pearse (secretary of the Wallaceville Club) gaining second prize after an interesting shoot off with C. PcarsA The following were some of the leading scores and handicaps: —
In the next match, one of 12 birds, the winner was W. B. Smith, who also shot the possible, A. Dennison and S. bcott having’ to shoot off for the second prize, which was won by the club’s patron, 8. Scott. The following were the detailed scores and handicaps: — Yards. Breaks.
R. Martin H . , ... The afternoon’s shooting finished vyitli a 10-bird double rise, which provided an interesting shoot-off between b. Eiiwards, J. Scholes, C. Pearse and D. Jameson, jun., who all shot eight buds. In the shoot-off J. Scholes dropped o t in the first round, S. Kdwards going out in the second, and D. Jameson, jun., won on the fourth round.
