Exploring the basement, where lie intended to store wood mid coal, lie was horrified to see what looked like a row of human figures. The dim 11-ht disclosed the fact that one had lost its head, the other was without an arm. and the third was legless. The “tragedy” was soon explained, for it was recalled that I lie house had previously been occupied liv a maker of wax figures. The ‘■bodies” were relies of Ids craft, and their damaged condition was the reason for their presence in-the basement..
