FATALITY AT CANAL WORKS
COLLAPSE OF STEEL GATE SEVERAL WORKMEN KILLED (Australian Press Association.) Vancouver, August I. A message from St. Catherine’s (Ontario) slates that ten workmen were killed when a steel gate on the Welland ('anal at Thorald collapsed, precipitating thirty men to the bottom of the canal. Five are missing, mid the injured number 35. The victims were crushed to death. Two hundred men n ive been killed since the construction started fifteen years tigo.
