JAPANESE WARSHIPS

THE AUCKLAND VISIT Dominion Special Service. Auckland, August 1. Japanese smiles have won the hearts of Aucklanders. With the training squadron in port the city has as fleeting visitors over a thousand men of the Imperial Japanese Navy, and they and their ships, the Idzumo and Yakumo, are attracting the keenest interest. No better example of the happy Japanese temperament could be found than among the sailors -who entertained a host of visitors to the Yakumo this afternoon with demonstrations of vigorous national sports. Admiral Kobayashi, Prince Takamatsu, and his officers were guests of the Northern Club at dinner to-night. The Admiral, Prince, and a party of officers and midshipmen will go to Rotorua on Friday by special train, returning on Saturday morning, when the squadron- sails.
