A slight depression is crossing southern New Zealand, while an extensive and intense anti-cyclone covers Australia. Moderate to strong winds, between west and south-west. Seas moderate north of New Plymouth and Castlepoint; seas rising elsewhere. Moderate to strong south-westerly winds and rather rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather mainly fair to fine in the eastern districts, cloudy in western districts and the far south, with scattered showers, but more especially on the West Coast of the South Island.
