YOUTH GRANTED PROBATION
WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT IN COURT. Joseph Reginald Clark, a warehouse assistant, aged 20, anpeared before Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday on two charges of stealing wireless accessories valued in all at £5 16?. 9d., the property of Thomas Ballinger and Co., Ltd., and also with having received from some person or persons unknown bicycle accessories valued in all at 155., knowing the same to have been dishonestly obtained. Chief Detective Ward stated that the accused, who had been working for Ballinger and Company, had taken the wireless accessories, which be gave to some youths who worked In a bicycle shop for repairing his bicycle. One or more of the youths bad given him the bicycle accessories, but the accused could not say who they were. Clark, who had never previously been before the Court, bore an excellent character. All the stolen goods had been recovered with the exception of two wireless transformers valued at £1 7s. Gd.
Accused, for whom Mr. Pope appeared, was placed on probation for twelve months. He was also ordered to make £1 7s. 6d. restitution within oue month.
