EMPIRE MARKETING BOARD
OPERATIONS LIMITED DOMINION PREMIERS V CONSULTED (Australian Press Assu.*—United Service.) i.' London, July 16. In'the House of Commons, Mr. Ormsby-Gore, Under-Secretary for the Colonies, informed Mr. P. J. Hannon (C.) that the Empire Marketing Board’s operations were limited by the terms of the Parliamentary vote to publicity o'u behalf of Empire products in Britain.! Its activities did not embrace manufacturers. In view of its limitations, Mr. Amery said that he would hesitate to call a conference of municipalities and chambers of commerce, aiming at a joint publicity effort. The terms of the Parliamentary vote were settled after consultation with the Dominion Prime Ministers, and the Government did not feel at liberty to depart from the arrangements pending the next Imperial Conference. Mr. Alexander: “Could not the results be improved by asking the Dominions to reduce their tariffs against Britain?” No answer.
