TEACHERS’ TRAINING COLLEGE
A CREDITABLE YEAR. Not the least interesting reference in the annual report of the Education Board is one to the Teachers’ Training College in Kelburn. The report says:— "The total number of students for the year 1927 (number for 1926 in parentheses) was 78 (89) men and 187 (193) women; first year students, 118 (157); second year students, 131 (125); third year students, 16; students classified : Division A, 244 (243); B, 12 (26); C, 5 (10); D, 4 (3). . . “The report ot fhe acting-principal records a year of work creditable alike to staff anil to students. Last year the present college attained its majority. The board congratulates the three principals Mr. W. Gray, Professor Tennant, and his successor in the chair of. education, Professor Gould, with all their associates, on their splendid contribution to sound education in this place. This success is attained in spite of certain defects of accommodation. Increased accommodation in certain departments which are quite inadequately provided for is the most pressing need to-day. An additional laboratory for science work, stuff-rooms, and students’ common rooms are urgently required to provide conditions suitable for efficient organisation.
