ENGINEER GIVEN NOTICE

FRICTION WITH BOROUGH . COUNCILLORS

Miller) and tlie engineer (Mr,E. A. Guniblcy). This culminated last night in tlie confirmation by seven votes to six of a clause in the Works Committee's report terminating (he engineer’s engagement by three months’ notice and relieving him of his duties from to-day. Amendments deferring the question for three months and referring tlie question to an independent tribunal were, defeated.
