BRIBERY CHARGES
FINDING OF ROYAL COMMISSION MAHONEY RECEIVED LARGE SUM TO VACATE SEAT IN FEDERAL PARLIAMENT (United Press Association.—By Electrk Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Rec. July 16, 9.50 p.m.) Canberra. July 16. The report of the Royal Commissioner. Judge Scholes, who inquired into Mr. Lambert's bribery charges, has been received by the Federal Government. It states that Mr. Mahoney received a large sum of money to vacate his seat in the Federal Parliament in favour of Mr. Theodore, but there was no evidence that Mr. Theodore had provided the money, except an amount of £2OO, which he gave to the Mahoney testimonial fund. The Commissioner, also found that offers of financial benefits were made to Mr. Coleman to resign the Reid seat in favour of Mr. Theodore. . The Federal Cabinet will meet early next week, when the report will be considered.
