BIBLE IN SCHOOLS
WOMEN’S CLUBS SUPPORT MOVEMENT. The General Federation of Women's Clubs in the United States, who are supporting the Bible in schools movement, is one of the most powerful women’s organisations there. It has a membership of over one and a half millions, with headquarters in Washington. The following is an extract from an American journal just to hand: — “One of the very hopeful signs for the future may be seen in the stand taken by the women’s clubs in regard to the Bible in the public schools. On June 6, at San Antonio, Texas, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs passed a resolution urging all members to attempt to introduce the study of the Bible into public school curriculum. It was the first question that caused any debate duping the convention and almost the last one considered in tfle ten-day session. The resolution was introduced by the Tennessee delegation and urged the teaching of the Bible to combat the spread of atheism among children.”
