WELLINGTON CLUB Thn Wellington Harriers Club held their B grade championship at Lyall Bay on Saturday afternoon. The course was one lap of the Vosseler Shield course, a distance of "five miles. Nineteen members passed the starter. Mrs. W. Weston. Stoles made the pace for the first mile, when Fraser went to the front, closely followed by I’- Harlen. This position was maintained to the finish. B. Fraser finishing some 50 yards in front of P. Harlen, with W. Stoics third. The winners’ times were : Fraser, 34min. 50sec.; Harlen, 35min. ssec. The sealed handicap which was run in conjunction with the championship resulted in a win for W. Stoles, time 34min. 44scc., with J. Willis, 34min. 52sec., second.
SCOTTISH CLUB Twenty-three runners of the Scottish Club followed a hard trail laid by Mausell and France at Lyall Bay Ou Saturday. Two packs were decided upon, the fast meh conceding five minutes to the slower pack. Three miles from home all the runners Were brought together and, led by G- Zander, made fast work of the remaining ground- The actual going throughout the seven miles .murnev was exceptionally hard. _ Stevens. Zander and Lawer were very impr?ssn<-. the latter especially moving, very treeiy. A run-in over the last quarter of a mile was won by B. Woodcock, with L. Whitehouse and G. Zander filling second and third places respectively. Next week at Miramar the Scottish Club will hold its five-mile championship race. M such meu as F. B. Silver, A. L. Sinclair and Zander competing it ptomises to be a good race.
