BOROUGH RATING
AN IMPORTANT STATEMENT
An important statement .was made by the Minister of Lands (Hon. A. D. McLeod) yesterday in regard to the result of the inquiry held into rating problems in Otaki.
The introduction of g new rating principle is recommended by the Commission, and this is expected to solve the difficulty in Otaki and in some Other boroughs. To meet the needs of the rest of the Dominion, however, the Commission, at the instduce of-the Government, is to conduct further investigation into the broad issue of classification of borough lands for rating purposes and the levying of differential rates. Feilding borough has been selected for the inquiry, which is to commence on July 16.' The Minister’s statement is published on page 12.
