YOUNG AUSTRALIA
TOUR OF AMERICA EXAMPLE NEW ZEALAND MIGHT FOLLOW The Young Australia League has definitely decided to make a tour of the United States and Canada. The shrewd American people are fully alive to the value from a business point of view of a visit to their country by a large band of Australian boys, and from prospective Presidents down to private citizens the warmest welcomes have been issued to the Australian lads to- “come over here.” The San Francisco Junior Chamber of Commerce 'has written as follows: “The proposed tour of the Young Australia. League, as outlined, appeals to us as a very wonderful undertaking. The sending of a group of young Australians to our country would be deemed a gesture of goodwill and an opportunity for a better understanding between our respective countries. Our economic and political welfares depend largely on this friendly relationship. You can rest assured of every courtesy during your stay. The billeting of the members can be easily arranged; in fact, we fear there will be too few of you to go round.” In addition to viewing the largest cities of the United States and Canada, the Australian boys will attend the inauguration of the President of the. United States and have a peep at Niagara Falls. It is suggested that the idea of sending boys overseas in order to see what other nations are doing is one which might with advantage be followed by New Zealand.
