On tho voyage to Auckland line weather conditions continued right up till about teu days before arrival, when heavy Westerly to south-west-erly gales were encountered. The vessel averaged just on 11 knots for the trip. From 1 o’clock to -1 o’clock on Sunday afternoon the gale was at its worst, and being bcam-on the Valacia rolled considerably. MESS TABLE GOSSIP. Captain W. D. Cameron has returned from his holidays, and has resumed command of the Wahine. Captain B. B. Irwin, of the latter vessel, has transferred to the Maori, relieving Captain A. H. Prosser, who is awaiting instructions. Mr. W. Henderson, chief officer of the Kairanga, and Mr. Lundie. chief officer ot the Wahine,' exchanged ships at Wellington last week. Mr. T. H. Davis has relieved Mr. C. H. George as second officer of the Hauraki. Mr. F. H. G. Clark has been appointed third officer of the Waiotapu. MISCELLANEOUS. Tho Progress, due here to-morrow from Port Waikato, will leave on Friday for Southern ports. The John, from Lyttelton, is due here on Saturday; and will go on to New Plymouth and Port Waikato. The Cumberland will now leave Picton at noon to-day for Wanganui roadstead to continue loading. Owing to rain at Lyttelton, the Northumberland has been delayed at that port, and will not leave there until to-morrow afternoon for Port Chalmers. The Willaston is barbound at Castlecliff (Wanganui), "and is not expected to leave there until this afternoon for Westport for bunkering.
