—: « REMITS PASSED. The conference of the New Zealand Public Service Association was continued yesterday. The following further remits were passed : — That all Departments holding departmental examinations should issue a syllabus at a reasonable time before the date fixed for the examination, so that intending candidates might be prepared. That the Publie Service Commissioner be asked to expedite his reply to the proposals from the recent Draughtsmen s Conference. That the Public Service Commissioner be approached to remove the restriction imposed last year upon the taking of annual leave in conjunction with Christmas and New Year holidays, as the present restriction falls heavily upon young officers living some days’ journey from home. That-in cases where an officer is arrested and charged by the police for an alleged offence, and where the charge is subsequently dismissed, the officer concerned shall not lose any salary or leave by reason of absence whilst in police.custody, or whilst attending court in bis defence.
