reform candidates ANNOUNCED
Reform candidates to stand for the Wellington seats at the forthcoming general election were announced yesterday. Suburbs, North, and East, will be again contested by the sitting members, the Hon. R. A. Wright, Sir John Luke, and Mr T. Forsyth respectively.
It is understood that Mr. D. Sloane, who contested lire Wellington Central seat at the last general election, has signified his willingness to stand again for the electorate in the Reform interests.
Strong representations have been made to Mr M. F. Luckic to coiltest the Wellington South seat in the interests of the Party. Supporters feel that Mr Luekie’s long experience in connection with municipal affairs, together with his position as senior member of the City Council, and Deputy Mayor, specially fits him to represent the city in Parliament. It is understood that Mr Luckic is prepared to consider the request favourably, and has consented to give a definite answer to the suggestion that he should stand for the electorate, to a deputation of Wellington South supporters which is to wait upon him to-day.
MR. WILKINSON TO STAND FOR EGMONT
(By Telegraph. —Press Association.) Elthatn, June 18.
Mr. C. A. Wilkinson announced today that he will be a candidate for the Egmont seat at the general election, in response to requests from the National Liberals, but. would stand as an Independent. Mr. Wilkinson represented Egmont as a. Reformer from 1912 to 1919, when he retired, and since then has not taken an active interest in politics.
