RELIGION AS POWER
URGENT NEED OF -TO-DAY.' Dr. IV. U. Poole, President of the World Sunday School Union, delivered an address at the Taranaki Wesleyan Church on Sunday evening on the subject, "Religion as Power.” Christ, said Dr. Poole, came into the world as a demonstration of power. The world into which Ho came was a war-weary one like our own. The urgent need of to-day was not power to know, but power to do; not diagnosis, but dynamics. The dynamic needed today was the power to develop personality. On these four points, Dr. Poole based an address of exceptional force and eloquence.
The choir rendered the Anthem, “In Humble Faith” (Garrett), and Mr ,1. M. Caldwell sang “God Is My Shepherd” and "I Will Sing You Songs of Gladness.” Mr Temple White presided at the organ. The service was broadcast.
