The winners of the championships competed for at the Manawatu competitions have now been decided, as have also the winners of the pianoforte and vocal scholarships.

The vocal scholarship, given by the society, was won by Miss Dorothy Stairs, of Palmerston North, while the pianoforte scholarship, given by . the Manawatu Society of Professional Musicians, was awarded to Miss Ina Skinner, of Palmerston North. The various championships have been awarded as follow: —

Vocal Solos.—Ladies, Miss Maisie Smith (Palmerston North) ; men, 11. Phipps (Wellington). Elocution. —Ladies, Miss Thelma Aitken (Wellington) ; men, J. AV. G. Davidson (Palmerston North) ; girls, Miss Mabel Corby (Wanganui); boys, Ralph Holmes (Palmerston North). Pianoforte.—Miss Constance Gaunt (Okola). Dancing.—Miss Gladys Smith (Wellington). The medals for these championships were presented at the Anal demonstration concert to-night by the president of the society, Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P. ' SECOND CONCERT. For threee hours fo-night the successful competitors at the Manawatu Competitions Society’s seventh annual festival, which concluded on Thursday night, kept a full house entertained. Dull moments there were none, and the audience was not slow in showing their appreciation. This second demonstration concert concluded this year's festival. During the evening championship and scholarship winners were announced. The following contributed to the success of the evening:— Piano solo. Miss M.
