LOSSES ON CONTRACTS

NEW ZEALAND WORKS (Australian Press Assn—United Service.) London, May 11. A shareholders’ meeting of Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth, and Co., Ltd., adopted the report and balance-sheet showing a net loss for the year of £527,953. Lord Southborough, presiding, said that provision had been made for losses on contracts which aggregated £364,473, including £251,973 in respect of civil engineering losses, mostly in connection with New Zealand. The contracts for the battleship Nelson resulted in a substantial loss, regarding which discussions were taking place with Government Departments. He hoped that the company’s claims would meet the consideration to which he believed they were fully entitled. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN CASE Sydney, May 12.
