NURSERY RHYMES PARADE

GOOD ATTENDANCE LAST NIGHT. This afternoon and to-night will be the last opportunities that remain to aid the Rev. T. Fieldon Taylor’s £3OOO Nursery Rhyme Parade effort, which is being held in the Town Hall. Last night pupils of Mr. J. Knowsley staged an effective Roman classic dance in the pageant, “Angels, not Angles,’’ the part of the cardinal being taken by Mr. Crews, who later appeared, as king in the “Isabella of Spain” tableau, the queen being played by Miss Youmans. In addition, there were staged the tableaux, “\yise and Foolish Virgins” and “Joan of Arc,” together with a repetition of "Lest We Forget.” In response to repeated requests, Miss Mary Cooley recited Kipling’s poem in connection with the last-named, while Miss Dorothy Mills presided at the organ, songs were rendered by Mr. Elston, and Mr. Kitchener presented a humorous sketch. Other items were band selections and the usual “rhymes” excellent music being provided by the King s Orchestra. This afternoon there will be a huge nursery rhyme ball for the children, -at which Mr. Taylor will be present. Prizes will be distributed for the various classes. Miss Connop, who was to have danced yesterday afternoon at the parade, will appear this evening instead, when the week will culminate in n splendid last night programme. Workers for the mission and their friends are reminded of the ball to be held on Monday night, when the ladles assisting at the stalls will bo the chaperons. '
