PORT NICHOLSON CYCLING CLUB

OPENING OF SEASON.

The first meeting of the Management Committee of the Port Nicholson Road Cycling Club for the new season was held last Tuesday. There were present: Messrs. Thompson, Bright, Robinson, Webber, Bray, Flett, Moss, Telfer, Christensen, Stalker, and London (secretary). Mr. Flett, senior, advised that owing to pressure of business he was unable to accept the position of president of the club. Mr. Thompson was elected president pro tem. The name of a foundation member, Mr. G. Harrison, was added to the list of vice-presidents. The question of the accident fund was left to the sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. Webber and Poutawera, to bring forward a report at next meeting. It was stated that the first race (which is to be held next Saturday) would commence at 2.45 p.m. at the Petone rowing sheds and continue up Cuba Street and tlie Main Hutt Rond to Stokes Valley, and back via Petone railway crossing. Trophies would be on a percentage basis. Races are to be held every Saturday for the first four weeks. The distances of the first four events were decided as follow:—May 10, 1G miles: May 26, 12 miles; June 2, 22 miles; June 9, 16 miles. Entries to close the Saturday before each race. It was decided to make the 22 miles event a sealed handicap. It was resolved to endeavour to get the Mayor of Petone to open the club’s season next Saturday.
