REMITS TO LOCAL BODIES’
CONFERENCE.
“It seems to me that we get very little satisfaction from forwarding remits from the conference for legislation,” said Mr. E. Windley, chairman, at the Makara County Council meeting yesterday, when discussing if a remit should go forward from the council to the coming local bodies’ conference. . Continuing, he said that always a number of remits were forwarded, but the local bodies got very little legislation. A considerable sum was involved in holding each conference, as delegates came from a good distance in some cases. The results, he thought, were rather disheartening. Some good always resulted from the conference, but not what the conference desired.
