4 Meteorological Office, Wellington, May 6, 1928, A cyclone centre passed through Cook Strait this morning, and is now south of Chatham Islands. The anti-cyclone over southeastern Australia is advancing eastwards. Forecast. —Moderate to strong southerly winds, reaching gale force at places, from Cook Strait southwards. Rough seas on the West Coast and south of Castlepoint, moderate elsewhere. Strong southerly winds to gales and rough seas in the eastern T. asman Sea, moderating later from the westward. Weather unsettled, with further rain in most districts, but improving gradually. Cold temperatures with some frost inland.
