CHESS

THE NGAIO CLUB.

The members of the Ngaio Chess Club held their annual meeting in the local Town Hail on April 24, when there was a good attendance. Mt. F. J. Brooker (president) occupied the chair. The fifteenth annual report stated that the membership was the same as in the previous year. The club championship had been won by Mr. S. Faulknor, who also became the holder of the Watt Challenge Cup for the ensuing year. Mr. Ernest E. Hicks, who had held this trophy during the past two years, was only half a point behind Mr. Faulknor. He further proved his consistency by taking first prize in the club’s annual handicap tourney, Mr. E. W. Ford coming second. There were six competitors for the club’s junior championship, which was won by Mr. J. A. Glasgow, who scored the possible.
