DIRECT ACTION
ADOPTED BY MARINE COOKS’ UNION WARNING BY ARBITRATION COURT JUDGE (Rec. April 20, 8 p.m.) Melbourne, April 20. Chief Justice Dethridge, of the Arbitration Court, to-day warned members of the Marine Cooks’ Union that if thev continued to resort to direct action' he would consider suspending or setting aside their award. He had no doubt that the union was adopting direct action tactics in the holding up of the Ulimaroa and other vessels recently. His Honour agreed to provide for the insertion of a clause in the award prohibiting members of the union from participating in strikes. The owners’ application to set aside the award was adjourned for a week.
