SHANNON ITEMS

' Shannon, April 9. 1 A meeting of the Plunket Society was held last week, when the president, Mrs. Clifford-Jones, occupied the chair. The nurse’s report for the last two months showed that a very keen interest was being taken in her visits, and the position of the society was considered to be in every way satisfactory. At the School Committee meeting on Wednesday evening, the chairman, Mr. R. L Tipler, said in reference to the balance-sheet that this was the first time since he had been on the committee that the balance-sheet had come back without a tag. He therefore extended hearty congratulations to the secretary, Mr.’ J. V. Burns, for his good work. It was also resolved that Mrs. Merwood be written to prior to her leaving the district, thanking her for the many valuable services rendered by her in connection with the raising of funds for the school.
