ITearty laughter greeted the reading of a letter from one of the chiefs of the Railway Department at a recent meeting of the Hastings Cliamljer of Commerce (says the “Tribune”). The chamber had written to the Department asking that a fair share of motorbus repair work lie given to Hastings garages. The reply to that letter was characterised by an ingenuous humour that doe's not often enter into such dociimenfs. The Department had its own garnge in Napier, said the writer, nnd therefore usually had its repair work done there. If wns the Deportment’s policy, however. to have “emergency tube repairs done in Hastings.”
