LAST NIGHT’S MEETING The City Council met last night, those present being the Mayor (Air. G. A. Troup), Councillors J. Aston, AV. J. Gaudin, C. T. A. Hislop, F. Aleadowcroft, JI. D. Bennett, 11. A. Huggins, Al. F. Luckie, K. W. AlcVilly, R. AfcKeen, AI.P., R. Semple, G. Alitchell, C. D. Morpeth, and J. Burns. On the recommendation of the Works Committee the council decided that the citv engineer be instructed to prepare a survey of the road alignment of Tinakori Road in order that improvements may be effected to this street as soon as possible. No action will be taken regarding the regrading of Buckle Street until a general town-planning scheme for this portion of tlie city has lieen adopted. The offer of the Miramar Progressive Association to donate j£ss towards the formation of an access way between Seatoun Heights Road and Awa Road was accepted, and consideration will be given to this work next financial year. The extension of the water supply and drainage to Aloa Point. Road, Lyall Bay East, will be considered in connection with a future loan to be raised after tlie first drainage and water supply loan of £lOO,OOO has been authorised. Authority is to be given ,to place a proclamation over certain properties m Glenmore Pool between the filling (in the Botanical Gardens) and the viaduct, with a view to creating a proper street alignment. The Council decided that .the application of the Hutt Gala Comittee for the hire of the flood lights af the Basin Reserve for use at their gala on Easter Saturday and Monday, be approved on the following conditions: (1) A charge of <£l per light to be made; (2) the Gala Committee to be responsible for all charges, including insurance incidental to the removal of the lights from the Basin Reserve, also the return of same in good condition; (3) the removal and return to be arranged through an official of tlie electric lighting department.
