FOOD SHORTAGE IN RUSSIA
—— MOSCOW UNDER RATION SYSTEM (Rec. February 20, 11.35 p.m.) London, February 20. The ‘‘Daily Chronicle’s” Berlin correspondent says that Moscow is being rationed on a drastic card system, including butter, tea, eggs, and macaroni. Members of co-operative societies are being allowed a double ration, and are also 'allowed to buy rice and potatoes which are denied to the rest of the population. Meanwhile clothes are unobtainable in town shops as the manufactures are being sent to the country in the hope of inducing peasants to exchange corn for them. The shadow of Trotsky still hangs over Moscow, many believing the new troubles are traceable to sabotage by supporters of the exiled Trotsky.
