Meteorological Office, Wellington, February 20, 4 p.m. Anti-cyclonic conditions are weakening over New Zealand. Low pressure is still over the Tasman Sea. The forecast is for easterly winds north of Kawhia and East Cape; elsewhere northerly winds, freshening, and later changing to southerly. Generally moderate seas in New Zealand waters, but rising south of New Plymouth and East Cape. Weather chiefly cloudy to dull, misty and warm, with rain later in many places.
