A Terrific Impact. It appears that a lorry owned bv Mr. K. Aplin conveying several employees of tlje Waingawa Freezing Works was proceeding down Queen Street in the direction of the works, while a Black and White Company’s (Wellington) service car, driven by Lewis Tremayne, was travelling in the opposite direction towards town. The lorry was struck on the right side, and overturned. The impact was so severe that the crash was heard a considerable distance away. Mr. Shackleton, who died in the hospital at half-past eight on Saturday evening following upon an operation, received the full force of the impact, being seated in the second seat of tlie lorry. The injured were attended by Dr. H. G. Moser, and four were removed to hospital, while the remainder were able to proceed to their homes. Operations at the freezing works were suspended for the day.
