ARRANGEMENTS FOR FORTHCOMING FESTIVAL. At a meeting of the executive counci l of the Wellington Competitions Society, over which Air. F. Campbell presided, tlie forthcoming festival was discussed and many notable alterations were de cided upon. Mr. R. Foster, of Sydney, was ap pointed vocal adjudicator. Air. Foster recently made an extensive tour of the world in the interests of his profession Mr. B. Gibb, of Sydney, and Aliss Emery, of Christchurch, were appointed adjudicators of elocution and dancing respectively. An innovation decided upon was a business firms’ choir contest. A similar contest, it was stated, had been verv successful in Christchurch and Dunedin. The conditions provide for fifteen to twenty-five voices to eacli choir and may include near relations of members of the staff not actually employed by the firm. The conductor and accompanist may also be outsiders It was decided to delete several unattractive items and introduce string quartets, country and foil: dances, sing iiig games for children, mouth-organ solos. The opening date was arranged to coincide with the school term holidays.
