One reads daily of the inroads being made by motor lorries as regards conveyance of live stock to ths freezing works (states the Gisborne "Times”). A glimpse of the train arriving at Stanley Road on a recent evening was sufficient to indicate that the railway is holding its own for transport of live stock on the Gisborne line. Twenty-four trucks of sheep and Sheepfarmers’ yards, the live stock conveyed being over 1500 . In addition, six trucks were deposited nt the Waipaoa works by tho morning train, whilst two trucks of pedigree stock were railed northwards.
