KELBURN A team of ten Carterion Club players paid a visit to the Kelburu Club courts on Saturday, when a scries of very interesting matches was played, the tally at the end of a slreuuous day giving Kelburu ten wins against Carterton’s five. In the singles Kelburu won seven matches and Carterton three, and in the doubles the results were: Kelburu three wins Carterton two. The visitors, who were accompanied by several lady supporters, arrived in town at about 10 o’clock, and the final match was not completed until after 7 p.m. Some excellent tennis was witnessed dur. ing the course of the contests, and was thoroughly enjoyed by players aud spectators. On arrival the Wairarapa players were provided with morning tea by Airs. C. AV. Earle and Airs. Kelly. A halt was called at 1 p.m., when the teams lunched together, and in the afternoon tea was provided for (he players aud visitors by Mesdames Earle. Kelly, G. F. AVilson, Furby, and Hodgkins. At the close of Ihe day’s play Air. R. Roydhousc, speaking on Lelialt of the visiting team, thanked the Kelburn Club for ond of the most enjoyable day’s tennis they had ever enjoyed, lie called for three cheers for the Kelburn Club and further cheers for the indies who had done so much to make the day the success it had undoubtedly been.
