A Hereford bull, straying on the road leading to Black Hills, between North Chatton and Black Hills, has been making a nuisance of himself during the past few days (says the Mataura “Hnsign”). One gentleman, driving some cattle along the road, got off his horse in order to secure a gorse stick to chase the animal. The bull moved away for a few yards and then suddenly turned and charged. The gentleman in question did not stop to argue further, but promptly dropped the reins and made for the nearest fence. The man won the race with a few inches to spare, the only damage sustained being to his nether garments while getting through the fence. The bull is still in possession of the roadi
