FIRE AT THORNDON < TWO HOUSED DAMAGED. At 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday night the Fire Brigade answered a call to 155 Thorndon Quay, a wooden two-storied unoccupied building of seven rooms, owned by the City Council. The building had been renovated recently, and insured for £l2OO in the London and Lancashire office. Damage was done by fire and water. The cause of the fire is unknown. A similar six-room-ed boarding-house, 153 Thorndon Quay, occupied by Mrs. Agnes Downey, owned by Mr. Leslie Moore, was damaged on its north side by fire and water. The contents were insured in the Home office for £2OO, but the insurance on the building was not available. The need for protection against fire loss is obvious.
