CANADA’S STRATEGIC j ADVANTAGE ADDRESS BY MR. AMERY Vancouver, January 10. Mr. L. S. Amery, Dominions Secretary, speaking here, said that Vancouver had a strategic trade advantage with Asia and the Antipodes. Canada needed a tropical and sub-tropical Empire as a commercial complement, and had them in the British Empire. He urged the development of Empire trade. He admitted the British fiscal system was toe narrow, but the Dominions received substantial benefits from the preferential tariff. He had seen the prosperitv in the Murray Valley in Australia, the result of a preference on dried fruits and wines.
