B Bavin, Prime Minister of New South Wales, .with his daughter, Miss Bavin, is due to arrive in Auckland by the Niagara on Monday next. , It is Mr. Bavin’s intention to stay three weeks in the Dominion. During that time he will probably visit Rotorua, the Waitomo Caves, the Wanganui River, and possibly the Cold Lakes of the South. By the same steamer will arrive Mr. W. Forgan Smith, Deputy Prime Minister of Queensland, who intends spending a holiday in . New Zealand. Mr. D. It was stated officially last week that Dr. A. W. By the death of Mr. E. H. Bisley, which occurred yesterday after a few davs’ illness, Nelson loses one of its most progressve citizens (states our correspondent). He had unbounded faith in the town and district. Probably 4 his main characteristics were his initiative., and courage in acting at the right moment. In association with his brother (the late Austin Bisley) the ’ firm of Bisley Brothers did much to find markets for sheep and hops, and was a big factor in building up the quality of Nelson hops in' importing Californian cuttings and distributing them to growers. The firm was also prominently associated in cutting up several estates for closer settlement. Mr. Bisley’s latest enterprise in this •direction was the subdivision of Moana (Tahunanui) and he took a very live and practical interest in the development of this seaside resort. In the late vears he took a great interest in the apple industry and .was ‘ probably the largest individual exporter in the Dominion. He was also president of the Nelson Fruit. Exporters’ Association. He leaves a widow, two daughters (Miss Bisley and Mrs T. Houlker), and one son (Herbert). Mr. Corv-Wright returned to Wellington yesterday from a holiday spent at Auckland and Paeroa.
