ALLEGED TROUBLE ON SHIP

4 ’ STATEMENTS DENIED. BY Telegraph.—press association.. Auckland, January 9. In reply to a signed statement made to the American Consul by four men of the ship West Tagus, Captain Wilhamsen, master of the vessel, and the chief engineer, Mr. Cordall, emphatically denied all the allegations of the menincluding complaints in regard to the water supply and food. They denied the allegations of objectionable language and threats by the officers during the voyage from America. An outsider who had meals on the vessel substantiated the statements of the captain and the chief engineer. One man, said to be the instigator of the trouble, was signed off on Saturday, and the rest of the crew are working quietly to-day.
