Following the discovery of the body of Mrs. lolene Mary’ Sampson lying on the road outside her home at Mitcham, suffering from severe iniuries, from which she later died, the police established that it was a case ot murder, for which robbery was the probable motive, as a wallet containing £2O which she was known to possess was missing. The police arrested Ernest Kleinhert Orchard, a labourer, aged 20, and charged him with murder.
