PETONE CLUB The Petone Rifle Club fired the second competition of the long-range series and Longfield aggregate at Trentham on Saturday, tho ranges being 800 and 9(10 yards. The conditions were fairly good, but a changeable rear wind required careful watching and upset many calculations as to allowances required. At 800 yards L. Wales scored 49 (just missing tlie possible), followed by I'. Jamieson with 48, and F. Kershaw, W. Johnston and A. O’Donnell with 47. At the longer range several members found the conditions puzzling, and the scores dropped considerably. T. Warburton s score of 47 was the outstanding score here followed by A. O’Donnell (45), IV. Mclver (44), and E. Fuge (43). The highest aggregate for the day was made by A. O’Donnell with 92 (one over the standard), followed by T. Warburton (89). E. Fuge (87). W. Mclver and AV. Johnston (85 each). A. 'O’Donnell wins the "A’’ grade spoon and L. Rule and A. Scott tho spoons for the lower grades. The competitions for the J. and 1. badges resulted in a keen struggle between the first two teams and resulted in a win for E. Ballinger’s team with 414 points (T. Warburton 89, E. huge 87, E. Ballinger 8.3, F. Williams <9. O. Pedersen 76), followed by W. 11. Ballinger’s team 413, A. Ballinger s team 390, AV. Mclver’s team 385, and R. 11. Nicholl’s team 365. L. Wales and E. Fuge win the ammunition prizes for best range totals m B and C divisions.

Franklyn 239 KARORI RIFLE CLUB In ideal weather, the Karori Rifle Club commenced a fortnightly competition shoot over ranges 860 and 900 yards on Saturday last. The best returns were from A. V. Swanson and IT. Frankland, who compiled 49 and 48 respectively at the initial range, and at 900 yards 45’s from H. Boon, jun., and Pres. Croxton. The best performance off the gun was from Dep.-Pres.
