Agriculturists in New Zealand will sympathise with the farmers in the Old Land who are hampered so seriously by foreign competition. In this country the wheat growing industry, was in grave peril of destruction until the Government came to the rescue and imposed a certain measure of protection. Obviously the Imperial Government must act if large tracts of ploughland country are not to be forced out of use, and damaging blow struck at another essential British industry.—"Timaru Herald."
